11 March 1895     Gilbert DELVES was born
 
  22 February 1916. Gilbert's RFC engagement commenced [Gilbert was 20 years old (and 348 days)].
In case of casualty, William John Delves of Bridge Cottage, 5 Oakes Green, nr Paddock Wood, Kent, was to be  
informed.
   Gilbert was 5' 4'' tall, with a chest of 34 inches. He had no marks wounds or scars.       

22 February 1916    Enlisted 2/am  [Air Mechanic 2nd class]

Egypt     

12 February 1917    Gilbert begins his RFC service in Egypt       
1 February 1918    Appointed 1/am [Air Mechanic 1st class]        
1 April 1918    Gilbert (like all others remaining in the RFC) entered the RAF       
1 April 1918    Transferred RAF A/M 1 [Air Mechanic 1st class]        

1 January 1919    Reclassified LAC [Leading Aircraftman] (Driver)       
3 January 1919   Gilbert's service in Egypt ends .

England   

1May 1919 Gilbert moved from 'P 'Sec to 7 SD [Store Depot] Doncaster

1 November 1919    Gilbert was transferred to RAF 'G' Reserve [03/58895] – Chingford.       
7 November 1919          
Post war    As a civilian, Gilbert DELVES worked as a Motor Driver.
